Not far from there, in the shelter of Maunday’s Bay,
is one of the island institutions, an Anguillan
landmark, Hotel Cap Juluca. The Moorish architecture
of the oldest and most famous resort on the island
does not seem to have aged as the avant-garde
interpretation of its traditional Moroccan design is
timeless and the charm of the setting is quite
simply magical. Cap Juluca, like a bridge between
the waters of the lagoon and the limpid transparency
of the sea, consists of a luxuriant tropical garden
and eighteen dream villas that adorn the pristine
sand of the two-kilometer beach like a pearl necklace.
Various levels of accommodations are available,
ranging from the “Standard Room” to the “Private
Pool Villa”, but all, without exception, are the expression
of pure luxury. All the buildings are open to the
outdoors and enjoy both garden and sea views.
The service is impeccable and the high-end amenities
will satisfy the most demanding guests. For example,
it is possible to request quite simply that the hotel provide
a private yacht, helicopter or jet. Given the level of service
available, it would be purely anecdotic to mention the
fitness center, the croquet lawn, the themed restaurants,
the wine cellar or the humidor. For Cap Juluca, in its
idyllic setting, is the perfect illustration of the famous line
by Baudelaire: “There, all is order and beauty, luxury,
tranquility and sensual delight”.
