ACertain Renaissance
I’ve always wanted my own Aston
Martin DB4, circa 1961. Why? Because
they’ve absolutely nailed the look.
Aesthetically, it’s perfect… at least in
my humble opinion. One day, if I’m
very lucky, I’ll have one. When that
day comes, and, with key in hand, I will
climb into the driver’s seat and ignite
the spark plugs to drive away. I may be
disappointed with some aspects of the
car though.
How perfect the world would be if we
could have the cachet, the ambiance,
the attention to detail right down to the
book-matched veneer on the dash, the
flush brass rivets in the steering wheel,
but under all of that, a state-of-the-
art, powerful modern engine, traction
control, proper suspension… but I’d hold
on to the spoked wheels. I don’t want
much. Only the best of both worlds.
