SAINT

MARTIN

The tiny island of Pinel is a little paradise on earth with a

very efficient built-in conservation system. There is only

one way to get to it: on a fishing boat, grandly called a

“shuttle” in the guide books! Whatever you call it, the

experience is uniquely delightful. For a handful of dollars

you will be ferried out from the dock in Cul-de-Sac and

deposited on a little island that is almost deserted...

except for two restaurants and a boutique, that is.

The view of Saint Martin is breathtaking. Looking back

towards its hills even seasoned locals realize yet again

how beautiful our islands are.

Pinel is one of the most stunning. The beach where

the restaurants are situated, offering loungers on

the sand at Karibuni and Yellow Beach, is one of the

most beautiful in the Caribbean. Don’t forget your

camera because here more than anywhere you will

find yourself in a picture postcard setting!

For the more adventurous, and providing you

have brought the right sturdy footwear, there are

two quiet, unspoiled beaches on the other side

of this little island that can also be accessed by

kayak. Needless to say, if you venture there,

yours will most certainly be the first, if not the

only, feet to make their imprint on the sand. The

most remarkable feature of Pinel is hidden from

view. Situated right in the middle of the Nature

Reserve, the waters around Pinel are teeming

with aquatic wildlife. We highly recommend

snorkeling around its shores. If you have the

opportunity, be sure to book an excursion with

Isabelle from Eco-snorkeling. She is a friendly

and patient diving instructor who works in

collaboration with the Nature Reserve and

she will show all the secret places so that

you don’t miss the best of the wonderful

underwater world.

And then, of course, we can’t remind you

too often to take advantage of the idyllic

setting with frequent breaks to rest,

relax and... enjoy the sunshine.
