Just a short sail from Pinel, another tiny
islet, Tintamarre, lies waiting for those
who take the time and the trouble to go
over and drop anchor there. Just across
the water from the busy beach of Orient
Bay, Tintamarre feels like a desert island!
Nobody lives there and there is nowhere
to buy food and drink. But therein lies the
secret of its charm. Be sure not to forget
anything when you set out. You’ll need
water, a picnic and beach umbrellas!
It’s a great place for long walks that could
lead you to some interesting historical ruins:
an old cotton plantation, the remains of
a little railway line and a landing strip dating
from the Second World War.
Tintamarre is such a calm and peaceful place
that for a couple of hours you can easily
imagine you are Robinson Crusoe. A great
approach to tourism that will no doubt be
a change from your usual experience...
