To be perfectly honest with you, even if a
travel writer is supposed to maintain a certain
degree of impartiality, we feel we should
tell you that probably the majority of
visitors who land in Sint-Maarten, come
here with the sole intention of having a
very good time in Maho. That, in itself,
is a vote of confidence. Maho can
therefore be compared to a mini Vegas
in the tropics. You have been warned.
The temptations are legion and the
possibilities endless. That being said,
you are free to do just what you like!
After all, didn’t you come to Sint-Maarten
to relax and enjoy yourself?
And so let us begin by listing just a few of the colorful
options that await you. Within the bounds of a mere
three square kilometers you will find: several luxury
resorts with a commanding view of the ocean, a wide
variety of restaurants, several spas, a golf course
(where we would like to warn you that you might be
surprised by the complexity of the challenge it presents),
many casinos, a shopping center, countless different
boutiques, piano-bars and night clubs (as well as clubs
of a decidedly adult nature). Here lie two of the island’s
most beautiful beaches and others, well hidden at the
foot of the cliffs, reserved exclusively for the most
amorous among you.
But we have saved the best until last. Maho is renowned
for another special attraction unique of its kind. It is not
to be missed because you will find it nowhere else in the
world! On the beach at Maho Bay, you can experience the
arrival of jumbo jets almost grazing your hair, sometimes
at an altitude of only 4 meters. The adrenalin rush is
guaranteed and the holiday snapshots are sure to impress!
Please take care, as the engine emissions and flying sand
can be dangerous. The very best vantage point from which
to enjoy the sight, in our opinion, is the terrace of the
Sunset Bar & Grill.
You see, there is no way that you can be bored in Maho!
