SAINT

MARTIN

l e s m a r d i s d e g r a n d c a s e

There is a Saint Martin tradition that you really must not miss.

Every Tuesday, from January to April, starting at 6 pm, Grand Case

springs to life and a carnival atmosphere fills the main street.

The village attracts quite a crowd every night but on Tuesday

nights, for the past 10 years, the atmosphere has been extra hot...

For several hours the throbbing rhythm of the Caribbean fills

the air. There is music everywhere. Some nights the village

marching band stirs the crowd or dancers in feathers and

sequins sway to Brazilian music setting everyone dancing

down the street. Fireworks dazzle over the bay. Grand Case

becomes one big party. The local boutiques set up stalls on

the street alongside the artists and craftsmen who show

their work. Many restaurants join in the fun and bring out

sidewalk tables.

It is an unforgettably festive atmosphere that continues

long into the night. Just one night a week, you can

experience this glimpse of life in a corner of “tropical

France” that the islanders are happy to share with you. It

is an experience that is not to be missed.
